This is my new Volvo FH. The model is from Herpa of course, but I made the chassi longer with one more axle, to look more like a Swedish truck for heavy loads. Later on, I will build a trailer to move my excavators.
Motor Mikroantriebe 1:120 Servo Hobbyking Linear RX Deltang Rx43d-32-v5 Lipo 100 mAh 66 LEDs (0603 for high beam, all others 0402)
very nice modell. The Volvo FH GL is my favorite truck and the modell you made is very very nice. can you make some pictures where we can see the tecnical things. I had never seen an truck before with an linear servo...
Here is a pictures of the under side of the truck, where you can see the linear servo. The servo was placed here to save the space inside the drivers cabin for the resistors and cables from all the LEDs.
All LEDs are controlled by the Deltang Rx. The 8mA P would not be enough, so I used the F1 for driving lights and F2 for high beam.
As you see there are two on/off switches and two charging connectors. They are connected so that the truck can be parked on a module with the receiver turned off, but with lights on powered by an external battery.

I have built a trailer for this truck. It is an extra long flat bed tralier, with steering on two axles.
The steering is automatic and electronic, and works very good. The kingpin is mounted on a potentiomter and reads the angle between the truck and the trailer. An Arduino Pro Mini use the potentiometer value to controls the two servos. The trailer also has its own reciever, so that I can control the steering from the transmitter instead if I want to, but thats hardly ever necessary.
66 leds, just like the truck, so its 132 leds in total.
